2015 Basic Racing Seminar

sponsored by GBCA (Galveston Bay Cruising Association).

The seminar starts at 9:30 am, Saturday, June 20 and will be located at the GBCA offices in Watergate Marina.

The address is 1500 Marina Bay Drive, Suite 1592, Bldg 113B.

More easily described as the building next to the main pool area at Watergate Marina.

The seminar costs $10 person and includes lunch.

The GBCA Basic Sailboat Racing Seminar is open to all boat owners and crew that would like to learn the basics of yacht racing. There will be presentations covering the Racing Rules of Sailing, Race Committee actions and Basic Racing Tactics and Strategy.

The classroom session will adjourn in time for crews and skippers to head out on the water to race in the second of GBCA’s 2015 Rum Race Series.  They will match up skippers and crew with experienced volunteers to enhance the learning experience.  New boats will be given provisional ratings for the race.

After racing, they will return to the GBCA office for the Rum Race after-party with refreshments, stories and awards.
