Recent Events

Happy Hour October 8 – About 20 members turned out for our monthly social event.  As usual there were lots of tasty snacks and adult beverages.

Harvest Moon Regatta October 21-23 – The wind and waves cooperated this year and made for a great Regatta.  More than 65 boats participated and the yacht club was well represented by Chet Jachimiec and Russell Treat aboard the SV L’Attitude Adjustment who won the Jeanneau manufactures trophy.  Following close behind them were Daniel Knierien and Elliott Bouillion  aboard the Estuary One.

Birthday Bash Charity Fundraiser October 30 – Forty members and guests were in attendance at the Sundance Grill II.  Social Director Elfie Boersma along with husband Bill Adams (PV  Relapse) took care of the table decorations and setup the dance floor, which received plenty of use.  The Halloween theme encouraged some terrific costumes; Daniel Knierien and Michael Gordon won the costume contest and were awarded $40 gift cards.  Games with prize money included a mini pumpkin design contest (winner Daniel Knierien) a candy jar count (winner Pilar Giron)  and six winners of a pumpkin putt-putt golf game.

This was the club’s annual charity fund raiser event; and this year we sponsored the Galveston Bay Foundation.  GBF representative Charlotte Cisneros spoke about their many activities which help our local ecosystem.  The fifty-fifty raffle format raised $450 for the Galveston Bay Foundation and a like amount for a lucky member.  Other direct donations added $550 so the GBF received a $1000 check.
