Recent Events

2022 Annual Business Meeting – More than 20 members attended the meeting which began with a Sundance Grill II continental breakfast and proceeded to elect WYC’s new 2022 officers:

Commodore Chris Lamson
Vice Commodore Daven Voorhies
Social Director Pilar Giron
Treasurer Vickie Voorhies
Fleet Captain Russell Parrish
Rear Commodore TBN
Secretary Chet Jachimiec
Director Tech Evan Bauman
Director Daniel Knierien
Director Laurie Jachimiec

Several members expressed ideas for 2022 activities especially the chili and gumbo cookoffs and a dinghy run.  Hopefully the club will include these events along with so many others in 2022.

2022 Commodore’s Ball – Thirty-nine members attended the event at the South Shore Marina Opus Bistro and Steakhouse.  This was the first time WYC has utilized the facility; club membership was very happy with Social Director Elfie Boersma’s venue, meal and DJ music selection.  Decorations provided by Michelle Weidner complimented the tables and helped make it a special event.  The three-course meal was delicious, and we danced the night away to popular music.

In recognition of past volunteer efforts, gifts were given to the 2021 Board and to Bill Adams as the 2021 Yachtsman of the year.  WYC has many longtime members, seven of the past nineteen commodores attended the event and also stood for a moment of recognition.

New Members – WYC’s newest members are Jena and Brian Cummings on board SV Reminiscing. Say hello next time they attend a social event.
