Recent Events
Bayland Marina: WYC traveled by water and road to the much-improved Bayland Marina. Four boats made the tricky approach to the marina and the rest came by car or truck. Some of us gathered on board Leonard and Ina Lachmann’s Express Cruiser and everyone went ashore to O’Neals Bar and Grill. The dinner for about 20 was great and so was the pool at the nearby Hyatt Hotel.
Bloody Mary Sunday: Treasurer Vickie Voorhies prepared the beverages and many of us brought breakfast sides to create a delicious and refreshing social gathering for the two dozen members that stopped by.
Dinghy Run: Fleet Captain Steve Nolan got WYC’s “little fleet” to crisscross Clear Lake and land at Boondoggles and later at Opus for beverages and lunch. The fleet was an odd mix of a RIB, a speedy Seadoo and a catamaran. One thing we had in common was lots of water spray. Several members traveled by car and stayed dry. More than a dozen members had a very enjoyable Saturday afternoon.

On The Horizon
Margarita Extravaganza – Saturday July 29 7:00pm – 9:00: WYC will hold an icy cold adult beverage contest. Bring your favorite margarita drink (and blender if needed) chips and dip will be provided in Pavilion B. A nominal gift will be awarded to the winner – you be the judge.
Happy Hour – Saturday Aug 12 6:00pm – 8:00: Look for an Evite announcement regarding any social gathering in August.
Freeport Cruise – Friday Sept 1 to Monday Sept 4: WYC will go offshore (or the ICW) to Freeport Bridge Harbor Marina for the long weekend. Boaters may want to be in Galveston on the Friday prior to or after the Saturday Freeport marina stay. Or you may also choose to spend multiple nights at Bridge Harbor. A group dinner for Saturday night is planned in Freeport where the club will provide appetizers and you’ll order dinner from the local restaurant. Boaters need to make individual slip arrangements with the marina Harbormaster (979) 8242776. Participants who want to arrive by vehicle are welcome. Please refer to the Evite which will be sent in August for more details.
Pancake Breakfast – Sunday Sept 10 9:00am – 11:00: Members will get their fill of flapjacks topped with berries, whipped cream and of course maple syrup. Add a refreshing Mimosas you’ll have a great start to a lazy day.
Birthday Bash Pool Party – Saturday Sept 30 6:00pm to 9:00: Who would’ve thought that Waterford Yacht Club is still here after 24 years? We’ll have a party at the marina pool to celebrate. Look for an Evite with details and expect to dress casual.
Pirate Party – Saturday Oct 14 5:00pm – 8:00: Ahoy ye would be pirates. Join your maties at the Railean Buccaneer Bar for some grub and grog. Be the best dressed or most fearsome pirate and win valuable booty plus a fist full of gold doubloons.
