Educational is an important part of the Yachting Experience. Waterford Yacht Club gives members a chance to learn more about the maintenance and operation of their investment. Some of the presentations will help the member to be a better Yachtsman and feel more secure when operating his or her boat.

Commodores Message

It’s that time of the year and we already have the wheels in motion for the 3rd annual WATERFORD YACHT CLUB CHARITY REGATTA scheduled for Saturday October 1st. We hope by getting an early jump on the event this year as well the members who have already volunteered (thanks to all who have stepped up already) we will be able to eclipse last years’ numbers in both regatta entrants and contributions. As in the past we will start with a regatta then culminate with a shrimp boil, auction, raffle and live band. This Year Waterford Marina has provided overnight slips for any of the sailors that want to bring their boat and stay the night (slips available on a first come first serve basis)

If you remember Lakewood Yacht Club took the trophy last year and we really want it back. So calling all WYC Sailors we need your help to win back the trophy. Please check the WYC website for regatta registration and event start times.

We need additional help from our members to put this year’s event over the top.   If you are interested in volunteering, being a committee boat, or just spreading the word please drop me a line or talk with one of the board members on the docks we will set you up with what you need.

A new twist in this year’s event, the winner will be able to donate $1,000 to a local charity of his/her choice. The remaining donations will be directed to Lighthouse Charities.

WYC has had a very successful first half of the year thanks to some great events put together by our outstanding Fleet Captain, Social Committee and active members. Whether it is the Happy Hours, Socials, Fleet events or weekend regattas they have all been well attended which make the effort worth it. If you have not been able to attend the past events, please join us we are having a great time!!

In an effort to work with area yacht clubs WYC has received an invite from Lakewood Yacht clubs to bring their vessels to Lakewood for the weekend and take part in their facilities, restaurant and lounge. There is space for 20 boats so please go to the website and get the skinny on registering

Please take a look through the WYC calendar for upcoming events, fire up your vessel, and take part in the fun!!!

To date our Membership is up to 83 members which is more than we expected when taking over this year.   The board members have been relentless with their efforts in membership, social and fleet events. I would like to thank and congratulate everyone that has made this year a success (remember this is a volunteer organization).
