Recent Events

Pancake Breakfast – Hosts Vickie Voorhies and Michelle Weidner turned Pavilion B into a friendly onshore galley by serving up hot and fluffy pancakes, mimosas, sweet berries, bacon and other breakfast goodies.  More than 20 members enjoyed the event – nobody walked away hungry.

Birthday Bash – About two dozen members attended our annual party at the marina pool.  Enjoying the pizza lunch, relaxing in the pool or around the tables were favorite activities.  For the more competitive we had a bean bag toss contest, and water squirt guns.  Cell phone cameras had to stay dry so there are no pictures of Daniel and Michelle chasing each other around the pool in a long-range squirt gun battle.

Pirate Party – The WYC pirates and brigands met at the Railean Distillery for rum drinks, snacks and hearty laughs.  The Distillery has rarely looked so good with so many finely dressed buccaneers in attendance. The costume contest gift card was awarded to Michelle and our 50/50 charity fundraiser netted $500 for the Galveston Bay Foundation.  Later many of the pirates set sail and boarded the nearby Gilhooley’s Oyster Bar for another round of beverages.

New Members – Jeff and Kimber of Winter Park (yes Colorado) have joined WYC.  They’re on S/V Winging It, a 49ft Hunter on pier 14.  Stop by their boat and welcome them with a hearty “ahoy”.

Chili Cookoff – Saturday Nov 4, 6:00-9:00

This competition doesn’t need a sail to win.  If you’d like to cook, bring your favorite secret ingredient chili, or a side dish to be enjoyed by all OR just attend and spend the evening with us.  Everyone is a winner as we enjoy the mild to spicy, bean or no bean, and exotic chilies.  Prizes will be awarded to the cooks with the most votes.  WYC will have electric outlets in Pavilion B to help keep your chili hot.  Social Director Michelle Weidner is coordinating this event.  Please respond to the Evite and mention any chili or side contribution.
