Recent Events

Board Meeting – The WYC Board met at the Sundance Grill.  Commodore Jeff Mountain conducted the meeting as the officers discussed the club activities listed below. Treasurer Vickie Voorhies gave the financial report on club expenditures which highlighted the Commodore’s Ball.  Officers discussed how to increase membership.

Reminder – Your Yachting Club of America reciprocal privileges are very useful when cruising in the GOM.  Several members have enjoyed marina access and discounts because of the WYC membership with YCA.

Membership Dues – Many past members have not yet paid their $150 dues for 2026.  Check your financial records and if you have a concern email Vickie Voorhies at treasurer@waterfordyc.com.

On The Horizon

Saturday Feb 28 7:00pm Sundance Grill – Boating Trivial Pursuit – Elfie Boersma and Bill Adams will host this fun and informative event.  Join in, test your boating knowledge and win a prize.

♦♦ Saturday March 14th will be a busy day with WYC.  Sent aside the day so you can enjoy all the events! ♦♦

1st) Monthly Meeting – Sat. Mar 14th at 9:30 – the WYC Board will meet at the Sundance Grill to discuss and further coordinate club events. Members are invited to attend.
2nd) Boat Insurance – Sat. Mar 14th at 10:30 – Rear Commodore Steve Nolin will host a seminar on boating insurance by League City broker Kevin E. Severance.
3rd) Wine and Cheese New Member Party – Sat. Mar 14th at 5:00pm in the Sundance Grill. Yachtsman of the Year Tina Pantoja and past commodore Mike Pantoja will host this delicious event, which just happens to be the biggest little charcuterie buffet table in Texas.  Please bring a new member prospect to show off WYC at its best.  Don’t miss out!
T-Bone Tom’s Party Saturday – March 21 6:00pm – Chet and Laurie Jachimiec will host our party at T-Bone Tom’s.  We’ll gather at the restaurant and the club will purchase appetizers for the members.  Please respond to the forthcoming evite so Chet and Laurie can reserve enough seating for us.  Also – late arrivals sit closest to the speakers.

 

Dock Hop – Saturday Apr 11, 5:00pm – Long time member Daniel Knierien will organize this enjoyable event as we move about WHM and visit a few yachts.  If you missed the previous Hops a few members will volunteer to host a +/- 30 minute membership visit on their boat or boat dock.  Email Daniel at daniel@optimamarine.net if you’d like to volunteer as a boat host.  An evite will be sent out in April, please respond so the timing of your visit can be arranged.

Dinghy Run – Saturday April 25 – Fleet Captain Amy Holdaway is organizing a dinghy adventure to nearby Taylor Lake for us.  We’ll meet in front of Pavillion B/Ice House in our dinghies and cross Clear Lake to enter Taylor Lake (access is just past Clear Lake Marine Center). Then we’ll cruise the lake until around 1pm and tie up at Boondoggles for lunch and later return to WHM. Watch for the evite in your inbox for all the details!
