December 2019

WYC ended the year sweetly with the desert and boat decoration contests. Members enjoyed a variety of tasty treats and a stroll along the marina promenade and piers to view the many seasonally decorated boats. Amy Holdaway’s entry was voted best drink, Laurie Jachimiec had the favorite desert and the Voorhies family boat decorations were voted best. The next night Voorhies boat decorations also won First Place for sailboats under 40 feet in the Clear Lake Christmas Boat Parade.

January 2020

The new year starts strongly for WYC. In a matter of days on Saturday January 18 at 10:00 am the 2020 Annual Business Meeting will be held at Sundance Grill II. A new slate of club officers to guide the club through 2020 will be presented to you for a vote. The meeting is the perfect time to mention events and activities you’d enjoy during the year. Door prizes will be handed out!  Don’t be shy, if you’d like to volunteer to assist with a club event, now is the time to mention it.

Later that night at 6:00 pm in the Opus Ocean Grill we’ll have the Commodore’s Ball. A delicious meal will be served along with a party atmosphere. The 2019 event participation Booty Bag winner will be determined – be sure to bring your collection of mementos. This year the theme is Disco so you can expect plenty of familiar dance music. Tickets are only $65 per person and should be purchased ahead of time via the WYC website. From the website www.waterfordyc.com click on the Events heading (on the right) and follow the instructions to Eventbrite.

There are other boat activities for sail and power boats alike. The GBCA Icicle Regatta has started. Races are scheduled on each Saturday through February 1st. Sign-ups for the Yachty Gras parade on Saturday February 15 are now being accepted. It’s billed as the biggest Mardi Gras boat parade in the US.
