Recent Events

Chili Cookoff – Neither rain nor hungry ducks could stop our chili cookoff.  About 25 members brought chili, side dishes or their appetites to the delicious event.  Club member Elfie Boersma hosted the evening and conducted the vote for best chili.  Kimber Davidson won the vote and received an embroidered apron.  Amy Holdaway and Laurie Jachimiec placed second and third.  Thank you Elfie and everyone who brought something to share!

On The Horizon

Battery Control Systems

Daniel Knierien, WYC Member and marine electrical expert, continues his hands-on lithium battery workshop. The session will feature a demo of Venus OS Monitoring, control, and history via local, online and MFD links. He will also demo an external-hybrid Battery Monitoring System with major components. Participation in the prior workshop is not required.

Commodore Ball – Host Amy Holdaway is planning a classy Moulin Rouge theme party for the membersip.  So save the date for the 2025 WYC Commodore’s Ball on Saturday January 25, 6pm-10pm at Sundance Grill Ballroom. The celebration is open to all marina members and their guests. Detailed information and ticket prices will be announced soon.

New Members – Give a shoutout to new members John and Gretchen Byerts onboard s/v Thalassa on pier 17.

Volunteers: Let’s think about 2025.  WYC needs a few good yachties to help keep the club going.  It only takes some imagination and a few hours a month to make a big difference.  Several board positions are available so contact Steve Nolin or Daven Voorhies at commodore@waterfordyc.com or fleetcaptain@waterfordyc.com for more information.
