Plan on attending Phillip Kropf’s (Recreational Boater author) talk about anchoring in his favorite Galveston Bay locations at the Sundance Grill on June 13th at 10:30 am.

Many boaters who are new to our area, and even some who have been here for awhile, have no idea how many great boater destinations exist all around Galveston Bay! This short seminar, presented by a long-time member and a past officer of Texas Mariners Cruising Association, the area’s most active cruising organization, will briefly give you the flavor of most of these destinations and also provide some basic information on how to navigate to them. It is for both sailboaters and powerboaters alike, of all skill levels, and for anyone who would like to be a bit more adventurous than just day-sailing activities.

Biographical info:

Philip Kropf grew up in downstate New York, messing around in small boats (and Sea Scouting) on the Hudson River. A Texas sailor since 1982, he has sailed on and explored Galveston Bay since the early 90’s. He owns s/v Silhouette, an Ericson 27, a perfect “good old boat” for exploring the many wonderful destinations around Galveston Bay and beyond.

Philip is a Past Commodore of Texas Mariners Cruising Association (TMCA) (www.texasmariners.com ), a local boating organization that exists to get people to more frequently use their boats, to show them that there are wonderful cruising destinations all around Galveston Bay, and to organize frequent cruises to safely lead members to these destinations! And with his long experience of sailing the bay, Philip loves to share his acquired knowledge with anyone who will listen!

A retired architect, Philip has for several years represented the interests of recreational boaters to the USCG Area Maritime Security Committee (AMSC), the USCG Port Coordination Team (PCT), the Lone Star Harbor Safety Committee (LSHSC) and the Central Texas Coastal Area Committee (CTCAC). Philip is also “The Recreational Boater Information Guy” on Facebook.
