Recent Events 

Pier 6 Brunch – A group of 26 members and guests gathered at the Pier 6 restaurant for a delicious Sunday brunch.  Many arrived by boat including Daniel and Laurie on the Gail Mary, Jeff and Marilyn on the Marilyn T, Dion and Lisa on the Skye, Michael and Simone on the Navarre Pearl and Steve and Amy on the Blues at Sunrise.  It was a sunny (and hot) day with calm waters which made anchoring or docking much easier.  New members Craig Johnson and Joni Kattau also attended and received a hearty welcome by members.

New Members Craig Johnson and Joni Kattau have joined!  They are on s/v Tempus in pier 9 slip 34.  Take a few extra steps and say “Hello” sometime soon.

On The Horizon

Anchoring Techniques Saturday Sept 12 – Rear Commodore Steve Nolin has arranged for a seminar on this important subject at the Sundance Grill in the Members Room.  The morning start time is 10:30 am.

 

WYC Birthday Bash Saturday Sept. 26 5:00pm – 8:00 – Our 27-year-old club will have an Oktoberfest theme party with beverages, grilled brats and other traditional German foods at Pavilion B.  Bring your pocketbook (cash) for a 50/50 drawing in which half the proceeds will go to a local charity.

 

 

Holiday Beverage Contest Saturday November 7th 6:00pm – WYC always tries to recognize the holidays.  So please bring your favorite Holiday beverage to be judged and shared by all.  The winner will receive a handy and valuable gift!
Christmas Boat Parade Saturday Dec. 12th 5:00pm – 9:00 – Tony and Karen Townsend have again graciously volunteered to host a boat parade happy hour at their residence.  Last year we saw both the Nasau Bay fireworks display and numerous brightly lit boats.  Please respond to the future Evite for this event.
Nassau Bay Raft Up – We’re still planning to go, hopefully in October, just waiting for cooler weather and an alligator free zone.
Board of Directors Election January 23 2027 11:00am – Plan on attending this important meeting to vote for and install the WYC 2027 Board of Directors.  At the Sundance Grill II we’ll review 2026 activities and then VOTE.  The slate of officers is yet undecided and can include your nomination.
Commodore’s Ball Saturday January 23, 2027 6:00 – 9:00pm – Save the date for WYC’s biggest and bestest party of the year, where we will enjoy dinner and dancing at the Sundance Grill II.  Ballroom decorations will support the party theme of ‘At the Reef’.  An Evite will be sent in December with a link to the online ticket purchase.  Please plan to attend in after 5 o’clock attire.
Volunteers: WYC can always use more volunteer help and our 2027 Board of Directors needs new volunteers to help keep WYC at full speed ahead.

WYC Board Meeting: Saturday September 12th 9:30 am at the Sundance Grill II.  Members are always invited to attend as the Board of Directors discuss and plan club activities.
