Waterford Yacht Club Newsletter – February 2023

Recent Events

Happy Hour – Simone and Michael Gordon hosted a Marti Gras theme get together, complete with a King Cake.  The cold windy, weather couldn’t stop us as we gathered in the Icehouse and talked about our starts to 2023.

Yachty Gras – Several club members decorated their boats and joined more than 30 other boaters in Clear Lake.  They each slowly cruised by the Boardwalk and threw hundreds of beads to the boisterous crowds along the bulkhead.  It was tight maneuvering and gladly there were no boat bumps or scraps.

Wine and Cheese New Member Party – Tina Pantoja plus assistants Treasurer Vickie Voorhies, Social Director Michelle Weidner, Wendy Buskop, and past Commodore Mike Pantoja assembled an outstanding Mediterranean theme charcuterie table and wine display for more than 50 people.  Everyone enjoyed the wide assortment of wine and wine parings (cheeses, meats, breads, crackers, fruits, jellies, humas and chocolate).  There were so many items Tina had to make clever annotations, so we knew what-was-what.  As members mingled with other boaters and WHM residents, several attendees won wine bottle door prizes.  We all greatly appreciate their efforts and welcome new members Mark and Andrea Ballantyne, Joe and Therese Moore, plus the return of Chip and Patty Claiborne.

GBCA Icicle Races – On any given weekend between 16 to 28 sailboats were on the bay in the five-weekend regatta.  Several WHM boats participated.
