Recent Events

Robert Burns Supper (January 29) Fleet Captain Russell Parrish organized this traditional Scottish event onshore. A bagpipe soloist, a haggis meal and lots of Scotch were enjoyed by more than 10 members.

Dock Party Happy Hour (February 11) More than 20 members mingled and shared the latest chit-chat, good food and beverages.

Galveston Mariners Connect (February 19) Several members attended this seminar at the San Jacinto College.  Maritime terminology, operations, regulations, and general shipping information from commercial operators was presented to recreational boaters.

Chili Cookoff (February 19) More than a dozen members enjoyed the evening with several hot, spicy, and mild chilis.  The contest results are in, and everyone was a winner!

New Members – Jena and Brian Cummings have joined!  They are on board the S/V Reminising next-door at Watergate pier 12.

On the Horizon

Dock Party Happy Hour – Friday March 11, 6:30pm. Stop by Pavilion B around 6:30pm for beverages, snacks, and boating news.

RaspberryPi Computer Use – Saturday March12, 11:00am-noon. Sean McDaniel will demonstrate how this palm sized computer can be integrated into your navigation electronics.

Wine and Cheese Tasting – Saturday March 12, 5:30pm – 8:30. Tina Pantoja and past commodore Mike Pantoja will host our annual wine and cheese tasting.  Together with other wine distributors, they will offer a giant, delicious charcuterie table.  Bring your favorite wine to share and any potential new club member so they may share the experience with WYC membership.

Redfish Island Clam Bake – Saturday Sunday April 23-24.  Plan on cruising to Red Fish Island, enjoy the day/night there plus the clam bake.  Volunteer help with food items and dinghy service to and from the island is always appreciated.  More details will follow.

Volunteers – WYC is building a big agenda for the year, think about how you might contribute with a social event setup, education or fleet on the water event.
