Reminder: Annual Membership Dues are ….Due!:
No one looks forward to membership dues, exactly – but getting this bit of formality out of the way right away at the start of the year is truly worth while. WYC is the very best deal going for a very active and exciting Yacht Club. Dues are to be payed by the first of February every year. The web site is already set up to accept your dues digitally as long as you are already a member, or the more traditional check still works. We’ve even added the convenience of ‘The Square’ payment device this year if you would like to swipe your card in person.
New Member Wine and Cheese Social :
WYCs annual Wine & Cheese tasting party is one of your club’s favorite events and will be held on Saturday, March 10th. Between the wines supplied by the club and the favorites you bring to share, there will be over three dozen red, white and sparkling wines, along with cheese parings, breads, crackers and fruit. The party will also serve as WYC’s new membership drive, so be sure to invite a friend from the marina. Captain Dave from the Sailing Angel’s Organization will attend and receive a presentation from WYC. Details for this years “Booty Bag” program will be explained by our Social Director. Check your electronic invites for the start time and other details. Don’t miss this grand event!
Education Seminar- First Aid on the Water Workshop:
We should all be prepared for unexpected medical issues while on the water. Dr. Greg Kutsen, a practicing emergency room doctor, will speak to us regarding this important subject. Please plan to attend his presentation at the Sundance Grill on Saturday, March 17th at 9:00am. Check your electronic evites and register ahead for this popular seminar. This workshop has been facilitated by Daven Voorhies.
Waterford Yacht Club is conducting a sailboat regatta from the Houston Ship Channel to Freeport on March 30th- April 1st. The sailboat racers will start the long
weekend with a run offshore from Galveston to Freeport, while the powerboats can cruise the ICW and meet up with the racers for an overnight stay in Bridge Harbor. From there, we plan
to spend a leisurely morning / afternoon running the ICW back to Pelican’s Rest for another overnight stay before closing out the weekend with the final run back to Waterford Harbor on
Sunday. The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) for 2016-19. This regatta has two classes; PHRF Spinnaker and PHRF Non-Spinnaker. Registration is now open and all race documents are available online via Regatta Network:
