2011
The WYC kicked off the 2011 fleet season with a Spring Shakedown Cruise on Saturday, March 26th. Southerly winds at 15-20 knots, and gusting to 20, made for an exhilarating sail to Redfish Island for the six sailboats that participated. Fleet captain Tom Mooney led the six intrepid craft which included S/V Colour My World, S/V Conch Clipper, S/V Destination?, S/V Indigo Moon, S/V Stardust, and S/V Wind Jammin’. The southerly winds also provided a good anchoring challenge, both to equipment and to technique. After lunch, most boats had a comfortable sail back to the Waterford Marina on a broad reach, under jib or staysail alone, and arrived in plenty of time to enjoy the WYC Steak Night at the Pavilion. All in all, a fun start to the 2011 fleet season!
