Job Beason Marina - 09/24/2011
WYC is planning an overnight fleet trip to Job Beason Park near Double Bayou on
September 24th. Beason Marina has 18 slips with 50 amp 125/250 power available
and will cost you $25 per slip per night. A motel, small store, and restaurant
are within short walking distance from the slips if you need them. WYC has
currently reserved all of the slips at the marina for September 24th so if you
are interested in going on the trip, please respond by Wednesday September 21st.
After that date I will release any extra slips so that others can use them if
they want.
The entrance to Double Bayou is about 16.5 NM east-northeast of Clear Creek
Marker 2 and should be about a 3-4 hour trip from Waterford Marina. The current
plan is to meet at 9 am Saturday morning (9-24-2011) in the ice house for the
skippers briefing and then leave about 9:30 for Double Bayou. This should get us
into Beason Marina around 1 to 2 pm, and on a rising tide. The entrance to
Double Bayou is known for shallow water bars; TMCA provides some navigation
advice at their website (www.TMCA.nu ).
Saturday evening we will have a happy hour under the pavilion adjacent to the
boat slips, so bring your happy hour snacks to share and your favorite beverage.
After happy hour we have two restaurants to choose from: the always fun Marker
17 and the Hurricane Club & Restaurant (recently reviewed in the Houston
Chronicle -
http://www.29-95.com/restaurants/story/hurricane-club-restaurant-destination-spot-seafood-after-ike
). We will also have a shared breakfast Sunday morning, again under the
pavilion, so bring your favorite breakfast. I hope to see you there!
