Impromptu Rodeo BBQ
A huge thanks to Janis for the award-winning barbecue and the foot stompin' good
time she showed us last night at the impromptu WYC gathering.
It all started out when Janis decided that in order to avoid cooking on her
cooker in the heat of July, she would cook the food now and freeze it, then warm
it in July. Well, when she said she had a cooker...wow, it is a real hum
dinger. On the trailer it's bigger than the cabin of my boat!
Max let her set up in the parking lot of the marina and she tantalized many
marina denizens with the wonderful aromas from 7 a.m. until the evening. Many
lucky people got to sample the wares...ribs, brisket and pulled pork as she
willingly gave out samples...much better than going to HEB!
Anyway, Joe Stanfield stopped by and offered up Dick Dirkguard's (our charity of
choice) services in cooking up our food in July. So, when that happened, we had
a surplus of meat on our hands and thus was born the "impromptu rodeo barbecue".
Thanks to Scott who was able to get the message out. We ended up with 40
people, many side dishes, desserts and a good time was had by all.
For those board members who were not able to join us, we are sorry to have
missed you (not really, there was more for us!).
Thanks again, Janis...you proved that you were spontaneous, adaptable, and, once
again, cemented your place in the cooking annals of the club's history!
