2011
The WYC trip to Allen’s Landing is coming up on Saturday October 29th, 2011. This is a fun filled and scenic trip up the Houston Ship Channel and Buffalo Bayou to Allen’s Landing. Allen’s Landing is where the Allen brothers founded Houston some 175 years ago. The trip is a powerboat only cruise due to low bridges (~26’) along Buffalo Bayou.
If you are planning on going, I need a list of all boat names, TX number or Coast Guard Documentation Number (registration), captain’s name and phone number, length and draft of boat, names with Drivers License numbers, and birth dates for the captain and all passengers that are going. I need all of this information by Friday, September 30th. Please send your information to wyc.info@gmail.com. If you have any questions, please call Tom 281-543-0885.
The current plan is to meet at the Waterford Marina Ice House about 7am, cruise to Allen’s Landing on Saturday and then return to the marina Sunday. Sailors and non-boat owners can ride along on power boats that are making the trip and then stay in a hotel within walking distance from Allen’s Landing; Dawn has arranged for a WYC discount at the Hotel Icon. After arriving on Saturday, we will have a potluck docktail party at Allen’s Landing and then go to dinner at the Spaghetti Warehouse. Details on trip logistics are subject to change, depending on USCG requirements.
If you would like to go along but haven’t made boat arrangements, let me know and we will try and make sure everyone has a ride. I am also looking for a volunteer powerboat to be the lead boat as my sailboat won’t quite make the bridge clearances. We hope that you can make it!
