Cinco De Mayo Membership Party

Bright sunny skies, good
food, great friends & new acquaintances - that's what is was all about at the
annual Cinco De Mayo Membership Party
held by the Waterford Yacht Club Saturday, May 3rd. Vice
Commodore Jeanette Bliss greeted the record number of attendees with a big smile
and information about the social, fundraising, cruising and educational
opportunities the Club offers to all members. The Ships Store was on hand
proudly offering logo merchandise from t-shirts, customized polo's, hand painted
wine glasses, koozies, ball caps and more; a
popular place to shop with Diane & Al.
The beautiful weather helped set the stage for a fun evening, enjoyed by
almost 60 members and 30 guests. Everyone arrived in a festive mood ready to
party, enjoy a cold drink and share an evening with both old and new friends. "WYC's
Margarita Man" showed up in his tux (Robert Donley style!) to serve delicious
San Lorenzo margarita's! There were even a few batches of Pirates Punch
floating among the crowd!
With a sunny backdrop of shimmering water, sailboat masts and power yachts,
the Pavilion was festively decorated with sombreros, chili pepper lights,
brightly colored table decorations and our mascot,
Saltee who made an appearance in
his new sombrero! Everyone enjoyed a delicious buffet of Mexican food, catered
by Necho & Hector from
San Lorenzo's Mexican restaurant. Delicious Tres Leches cake (a surprise
specially made by Hector's wife) was a deliciously huge hit with everyone who
cared to indulge!
More than once you could hear remarks of "Does this club always have this
much fun when they get together" to which we always reply, "You bet we do"!!
Hosted by the WYC Board and our very energetic Social Director, Era Lee
Caldwell, the evening was deemed a huge success by all who attended and those
who will soon be joining the WYC!! Thanks Era Lee for all your planning and hard
work!
