Cruise to Allen's Landing -- March 29-30

On March 29, The Waterford Yacht Club cruised to Allen’s Landing in Downtown Houston for their annual Rear Commodore’s Cruise. 63 people boarded 10 power yachts at Waterford Marina and docked at Allen's Landing after navigating the Houston  ship channel and Buffalo Bayou. It is exciting to see the Battleship Texas and the San Jacinto Monument as you cruise past them, said Rear Commodore, Alan Albrecht.

Upon arrival at Allen's Landing, tables were set up at the dock and a potluck lunch was served.  The group met for dinner at Zula Restaurant.  Some members elected to spend the night on their boats that evening while other members stayed at the beautiful Magnolia Hotel.

The boats departed Allen’s Landing at 10 a.m. on Sunday morning for the five hour trip back to Waterford Marina.  This trip required security clearance from the U.S. Coast Guard to navigate past the refineries and petro-chem plants.

This is the second consecutive year that the Waterford Yacht Club has made the trip from Clear Lake to downtown Houston.  This year's trip was organized by WYC’s Fleet Captain, Suzanne Donnelly who proclaimed the trip "a huge success and a very scenic and fun voyage".
