WYC Cruise to HYC &
Chili Cook-Off
The
final cruise of 2005 was a huge success. Seventeen
boats left Waterford marina on Saturday for a short trip to the Houston Yacht
Club for our annual Chili Cook-off. We quickly filled HYC’s guest pier and several slips in the
north harbor area. Everyone helped
with docking and we were able to relax and prepare for the cook-off.
By
mid-afternoon the chili pots were simmering and socializing had begun.
Eight teams competed in this event with some interesting varieties of
chili and plenty of speculation on each team’s secrete ingredients.
The winners:
1st place – Wild Naked Lady Chili, Pat & Susie Andrus
2nd place – Dan's Three Meat Astronomical Chili, Dan &
Freddie Fuller
3rd place & Showmanship– RASTAMON-O-WAR Chili, Barney
& Janie Gulley
Lois
Pollock did a great job of organizing the Chili Cook-off and the winners took
home some wonderful prizes. Lois,
thanks from us all!
Sunday
morning we all met for coffee, Mimosas, and Bloody Mary’s before breakfast at
the club. The near perfect fall
weather made for enjoyable sailing and cruising back to Waterford.
Thank you
all for your tremendous response to this year’s cruising program.
Special thanks to all the volunteers who served as cruise leaders or
helped setting up the dock parties. It’s
been a pleasure to serve as your Fleet Captain.
Julie
Gibb, Fleet Captain Waterford Yacht Club
